Italian text
Quanto ha di dolce Amore.
Perchè sempre io vi baci,
O dolcissime rose,
In voi tutto ripose.
Deh, deh, s'io potessi
ai vostri dolci baci
La mia vita finire,
O che dolce morire!
English translation
by Mick Swithinbank
How much sweetness there is in Love!
So that I would constantly kiss you,
sweetest roses,
Love gave you everything.
Alas, if only
in the midst of your sweet kisses
I could end my life,
what a sweet death that would be.
(Whether my interpretation is correct partly depends on whether my suggested punctuation is.)
