Ex(s)ultant laeti angelorum chori
Cantates gloria infantis nati,
Ecce angelorum ad eum
Cantum tum sonorum
Tremunt pastores et greges errantes
Et maturare fugam
In cava antra parunt
Glaciali stupefacti pavore
Sed angelorum chori
Cantant pastores ite
Ad pupulum Dominum vestrum,
Ite et adorate
Salvatorem qui nunc natus est vobis.

German translation

Gülden-glänzend in tiefster Nacht
Jubilieren die frohen Chöre der Engel,
Preisen singend die Geburt des Kindes.
Siehe, da die Engel zu ihnen
So brausend singen,
Fürchten sich die Hirten und die Herden scheuen.
Und sie wollen sich zu Flucht wenden,
Um sich in einer Grotte zu verbergen,
Aber erstarren vor Angst.
