Description: The lyrics are a patchwork of excerpts from Metastasio's works. The odd stanzas come from the oratorio Betulia liberata, set by many composers, including Jommelli, Salieri and the young Mozart. The even stanzas come from La Passione di Gesù Cristo. According to the tradition, this melody was composed by st. Alphonsus. It existed a refrain too (Te solo adoro, | Mente infinita, | Fonte infinita | Di verità: | In cui si muove | Da cui dipende | Quanto comprende | L'eternità. ) taken from Betulia liberata but its music is lost.
