Edition notes: The lyrics of Canzonetta begins Ei travigliati amanti in the source used here: The Simone Veronis print: L'Odi della Musica à 3 voci ... Libro Primo, Roma 1596. The Print gives the parts of the voices, an intavolation for harpsichord and an intavolation for Lute in Italian tablature. This semi-diplomatoric edition of the Canzonetta gives the voices in score, and the Harpsichord and Lute intavolations. The Lute intavolation is given both in the Italian tablature and in a transcription to French tablature. When performing with the common Lute in G the voices must transpose down a large second. A raw transcript of the lute intavolation may be had by downloading the Lilypons source-file. Commenting in the apropriate commands and running it through Lilypond.

Si/Ei travagliati amanti,
con dolci suoni e canti,
hanno spesso piegate Donne,
donzelle ingrate.

Yes / And the troubled lovers,
with sweet sounds and songs,
often have bent women,
ungrateful damsels.
