Spanish text Soy serranica, y vengo d'Extremadura. ¡Si me valerá ventura! Soy lastimada, en fuego d'amor me quemo; soy desamada, triste de lo que temo. En frío quemo, y quémome sin mesura. ¡Si me valerá ventura!

English translation I am a mountain girl, And I come from Extremadura. If only fortune would help me! I am pitiful, In the fire of love I burn; I am unloved, And sad at what I fear; In the cold I burn, I burn endlessly. If only fortune would help me!
