Talk:Wenn ein starker Gewappneter, Op. 109, No. 2 (Johannes Brahms)

The current version contains 2 wrong notes in 2. Wenn ein starker Gewappneter, bar 33, Soprano 1, text syllables "es mit":

Right notes are f & e-flat.

Arguments:

  • there is no reason for Brahms to use such open parallel fifths here
  • the Simrock edition from 1890, as available on IMSLP, shows notes f & e-flat

In comparison with printed complete edition (Breitkopf & Härtel) there are some deviations in bar 48 in Tenor and Bass of Chorus II: Bar 48 in Tenor II should be: 1 quater b flat, 2 quaters rest, 1 eighth f, 1 eighth g Bar 48 in Bass II should be: 1 quater f, (held from bar 47); 1 quater e-flat, 1 quater a-flat (fifth down); d-flat (fourth up)
