George Whitefield, 1758

Meet and right it is to sing
Glory to our God and King;
Meet in every time and place,
To rehearse his solemn praise.

Join, ye saints, the song around,
Angels help the cheerful sounds
Publish through the world abroad
Glory to the eternal God.

Praises here to thee we give,
Gracious thou our thanks receive;
Holy Father, sovereign Lord,
Every where be thou adored.

Though the injurious world exclaim,
Sing we still in Jesus' name;
Savior, thee we ever bless,
Thee our Lord and God confess.

Timothy Swan, 1801

Meet and right it is to sing
Glory to our God and King;
Meet in every time and place,
To rehearse his solemn praise.

Join, ye saints, the song around,
Angels help the cheerful sounds
Publish through the world abroad
Praise and glory to the Lord.

Praises here to thee we give,
Gracious thou our thanks receive;
Holy Father, sovereign Lord,
Every where be thou adored.

Though this wicked world exclaim,
Still we sing in Jesus' name;
Sing ye praises to the Lord,
Join to sing in one accord.
