Source of text: Psalm 23
Number of voices: 2vv Voicing: SA
Genre: Sacred, Anthem
Language: English
Instruments: Piano
First published: 2017
Description: This is an easy anthem for the Sundays when you have no tenors and basses. It starts in unison, is repeated as two-part call and response, then to two-part harmony, and then to four-part SSAA harmony for the very last line. Range is easy throughout: sopranos B to E, altos B to C#. No difficult rhythms. There are a few harmonies of a 2nd, but they are approached stepwise for easy reading. The accompaniment could be played on piano or organ and doubles the vocal lines through much of the piece. Because this is a gentle exploration of harmony and relatively short, it could also be a good choice for a treble choir that is beginning to hold parts independently. Enjoy!

English text
adapted from Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in a green pasture:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He leadeth me and restoreth my soul,
I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me.
Goodness and mercy shall follow me,
and I will dwell with the Lord forever.
