Description

The Triumphs of Oriana is a book of English madrigals written in honor of Queen Elizabeth. The volume was published by Thomas Morley in 1601. It consists of 25 pieces by 23 composers (Morley and Ellis Gibbons each have two madrigals). Each madrigal ends with the final phrase: “Thus sang the shepherds and nymphs of Diana: long live fair Oriana.”
