General Information

Description: A book of English madrigals written in honor of Queen Elizabeth (known colloquially as "Oriana"). The volume was organized and published by Thomas Morley in 1601, and contains 25 pieces by 23 composers of the most prominent English composers of the time. Each madrigal ends with the phrase: “Then sang the shepherds and nymphs of Diana: long live fair Oriana.”
