Just a little bit of water falling
softly on the ground
makes a seed begin to wiggle
tho’ his sleep may be quite sound
and the warmth of sunlight shining
makes him want to peek
and see what the world is holding
for him and thus he begins to be.
R.: Then he grows, the seed begins to grow.

But he’ll only grow a little
if the rain forgets to fall,
if the sunshine becomes hidden,
why he won’t grow up so tall
and the ground he runs his roots
through need to keep our friend well fed,
for it takes more than courage
to peep shyly from his bed.
R.

A seed may be all wrinkled,
white or dark, or dusky brown,
but our Father knows potential
of great magnitude is found
in the most unlikely looking,
in the most forgotten seed;
for our Savior seeks the lowly
to perform the greatest deeds.
