Women's voices

Bob

It is quite rare to come across baroque/classical works which seem to be composed for exclusively women's voices. Is it worth adding a category for the few that there are?

Jonathang 07:05, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

Sorry for the delayed reply. I have to confess to having only just noticed your message. Well as this is an interesting subsect, that would make sense. The idea gets my blessing but it may be worth asking on the forums as well, especially to get an idea for which category it would be a sub-category of. --Bobnotts talk 13:33, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

Rameau - Ô nuit

Hi, Why did you remove the information I put about the lyricist and the arranger?

Paroles de E. Sciortino, arrangement à 4 voix SATB de Joseph Noyon

It's *very* important for this piece as Rameau composed only the theme of the "Duo des prêtresses de Diane" in his opera "Hippolyte & Aricie".

The only thing is that I didn't figure out where I had to put it correctly. Couldn't you advise me? Regards, Bersyl91 16:15, 10 January 2011 (CST)

Hi. I'm not entirely sure I know what you're getting at but I'll have a guess... my only substantial edit to the page was made about a year and a half ago. You'll forgive me for forgetting my exact reasoning in that time. It seems that I was a bit over ambitious in what I deleted. I think I deleted your translation of the "general information" on the basis that this would not normally be translated on a score page. However, I have now restored the lyricist's name onto the page. If you have any further questions, feel free to reply here. --Bobnotts talk 16:59, 10 January 2011 (CST)

Hi, Thank you for that. I don't know why I was only notified today of the modifications... Perhaps problems with my e-mail? For me, it's difficult to know what has to be translated and what hasn't because I see the whole CPDL site in french... How can we put the arranger's name? It's he which has really *created* the "Ô nuit" piece in changing the tempo, writing for 4 voices SATB instead af 2 women voices with baroque orchestra, etc. The history of this piece is very interesting, really. Thank you again, Bersyl91 17:25, 10 January 2011 (CST)

I've just added "Joseph Noyon" on a separate line with the "Arranger" label. I hope this is what you had in mind. If you want to add anything to the page (in English by preference), feel free. --Bobnotts talk 08:33, 16 January 2011 (CST)

Thank you, I think it's perfect - AFAIK. Bersyl91 09:16, 16 January 2011 (CST)

This very interesting history really belongs on the work page! Richard Mix 16:40, 18 January 2011 (CST)
Please feel free to add it if you wish! --Bobnotts talk 07:55, 19 January 2011 (CST)

Hmm... I'm sorry I don't know exactly what you name the "work" page? --Bersyl91 17:11, 18 January 2011 (CST)

I mean this page. --Bobnotts talk 07:55, 19 January 2011 (CST)

Stainer Te Deum in G

I think you have mistyped Stainer in making the alteration, Bob. Jamesgibb 08:31, 19 February 2011 (CST)

Thanks, that's been corrected. You know you can edit the page too, right? ;-) --Bobnotts talk 10:10, 20 February 2011 (CST)

Guatemalan composers

Bob

Could I ask you please to create a category for Guatemalan composers? There is one already and there will probably be at least one more.

Looks like someone beat me to it :-) --Bobnotts talk 16:04, 5 March 2011 (CST)

CPDL Policy

Hi, I have got a few questions about CPDL policy: Monteverdi mentioned viols/trombones ad libitum for some of his compositions in "Selva Morale et Spirituale". I am on the way adding these parts (Monteverdi did not publish them) and would like to know if it is preferable to have two editions of the full score, with and without viols/trombones or if it is advisable to save webspace by having only one edition. Similarly, do you prefer lean MIDI files or is it better to publish much larger MP3 in better quality? Edit: I tried to register to the forum but it did not like my e-mail address. PRott 05:43, 11 March 2011 (CST)

Very sorry for the delay in getting back to you. You may have already had your question answered elsewhere. But if not,
  1. Please publish as many versions of editions as you deem useful.
  2. Generally, I would recommend you add MP3s in favour of MIDIs if you think that there is something to be gained from the public in a different format (eg. musical instrument sounds more authentic, tempi more accurate). If everyone were to add MP3s rather than MIDIs, this may cause us some concern but ultimately we'd find a way round it.
If you're still having problems registering on the forums, please contact Max or Carlos who are our resident techies :-) --Bobnotts talk 05:26, 28 September 2011 (CDT)

non Papa : a qui me doib ie

Hi Rob, I've mistakenly created a second score page for this chanson and thus generated an obsolete score number. Sorry 'bout that. 04:52, 17 September 2011 (CDT)

Certainly not the end of the world. Thanks for your contributions! --Bobnotts talk 05:27, 28 September 2011 (CDT)

How to close Score Requests?

Hi, I came across Request:Songs from the Bavarian Highlands (Edward Elgar) from 2002 and found that these 6 songs have been typeset in 2004 and 2007. Hence I changed the status to "Completed" and inserted a list. Should there be more on that Requests Page? is there somewhere a crib sheet on how to close Requests? And last question: how actively used is the Requests feature? Cheers -- KlausFoehl 07:50, 20 September 2011 (CDT)

Hi Klaus. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. What you've done is exactly right so thanks for that :-) When a request has been completed, template should be changed from "requested" to "completed" as you have done. Adding the individual score pages is a bonus. To be honest, I'm not sure that the requests system is used all that much which is a shame. We don't have any hard data on this but from my observations, there don't seem to be many new requests made. I'm not sure how we could increase take up though... maybe start a discussion on the forums? Cheers --Bobnotts talk 05:31, 28 September 2011 (CDT)

Stars Lyricist

I'll apologize forthright for taking so long to get back to you. School has taken much of my time and focus.

The lyrics for my piece "Stars" were written by me. Thus, placing the copyright in my possession.

I hope this helps to clear things up a little bit.

Anthony PezzellePezzelle 02:24, 28 September 2011 (CDT)

Thanks for the clarification, Anthony. Don't worry about the delay. I'm pretty behind on all things CPDL at present unfortunately :-( I've added the lyricist template to the page to confirm what you've told me. One final thing - you stated on the edition notes on the page "© Anthony Pezzelle May, 2009." but under "copyright" it says CPDL. Could you confirm which it is please? --Bobnotts talk 05:36, 28 September 2011 (CDT)
