Latin text Vexilla regis prodeunt Fulget crucis mysterium Quo carne carnis conditor Suspensus est patibulo. O crux ave spes unica Hoc passionis tempore Auge piis justitiam Reisque dona veniam. Te summa Deus Trinitas Collaudet omnis spiritus Quos per crucis mysterium Salvas rege per saecula. Amen.		English translation Abroad the royal banners fly And bear the gleaming Cross on high— That Cross whereon Life suffered death And gave us life with dying breath. Hail Cross, of hopes the most sublime! Now, in the mournful Passion time; Grant to the just increase of grace, And every sinner’s crimes efface. To Thee, O most high Triune God, May every soul high praises sing; Whom by the mystery of the Cross Thou sav’st for all eternity. Amen.
German translation Des Königs Banner wallt hervor, hell leuchtend strahlt das Kreuz empor, wo unser Menschheit Stamm und Stolz gefesselt hängt am Marterholz. O heil’ges Kreuz, sei uns gegrüßt!
