Description:  Words by John Newton, 1779, hymn entitled The Name of Jesus, with seven stanzas. Babcock used stanzas five, six, and seven of Newton's hymn in his composition. Babcock revised the first line of stanza five, from "Jesus! my shepherd, husband, friend" to "Jesus! my shepherd and my friend."
