O dolce anima mia, dunque è pur vero
ingiustamente brami;
se cerchi lealtà, mira che fede,
amar quand’altrui doni
la mia cara mercede,
e la spietata tua dolce pietate;
Ma se cerchi beltate,
non mirar me, cor mio, mira te stessa
in questo volto, in questo cor impressa.

English.png English translation

Oh my sweet love, thus it is true
that you changed your mind
and abandon me for another;
if you look for a heart that adores and loves you more,
you desire in vain;
if you seek loyalty, consider what faith
it is to love when you give to another my sweet reward
and your pitiless sweet pity.
But if you seek beauty,
look not at me, my heart, look at yourself
forever imprinted in this face, in this heart.

tu cherches en vain;

anhelas en vano;
y tu despiadada dulce piedad.
Mas si buscas belleza, corazón mío,
no me mires, mírate a ti misma,

Oh meine süße Seele, dann ist also wahr,
