//Come Slowly-Eden!//
Come slowly Eden!
Lips unused to Thee
Bashful sip thy Jessamines
As the fain-ting Bee
Reaching late his flower,
Round her chamber hums
Counts his nectars
Enters and is lost in Balms.
Snow flakes.
I counted till they danced so
Their slippers leaped the town
And then I took a pencil
To note the rebels down
And then they grew so jolly
I did resign the prig
And ten of my once stately toes
Are marshalled for a jig!
The Moon is distant from the Sea
The Moon is distant from the Sea
And yet, with Amber Hands
She leads Him – docile as a Boy
Along appointed Sands
He never misses a Degree
Obedient to Her eye
He comes just so far toward the Town
Just so far goes away
Oh, Signor, Thine, the Amber Hand
And mine the distant Sea
Obedient to the least command
Thine eye impose on me
We should not mind so small a flower
We should not mind so small a flower
Except it quiet bring
Our little garden that we lost
Back to the Lawn again
So spicy her Carnations nod
So drunken, reel her Bees
So silver, steal a hundred flutes
From out a hundred trees
That whoso sees this little flower
By faith, may clear behold
The *Bobolinks around the throne
And Dandelions gold.
Wild nights Wild nights!
Wild nights Wild nights!
Were I with thee
Wild nights should be
Our luxury!
Futile the winds
To a Heart in port
Done with the Compass
Done with the Chart!
Rowing in Eden
Ah the Sea!
Might I but moor tonight
In thee!
