Wiki Code for Nested Movement files

Hello, Claude!

I am attempting to add upload reference links as sub-parts, (i.e. movements) under a collected work, as per this 'startup example'...

https://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Psalm_119_Choral_Suite_(Joel_Hunsberger)#Music_files

My first question is: Why does the Part 1 .mp3 file name continue to appear? (i.e. appearance of 'Psalm_119_Choral_Suite_-_Part_1%281-4%29.mp3' on the finished page.) What I really want is for that file name to be hidden just like the .pdf file for Part 1 appears only as an icon.

I examined Wiki code examples from pages like these:

(e.g.) https://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Missa_Divinae_Misericordiae_(Louis_Di_Rocco) .... where the actual file links are hidden as expected.
          https://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/12_Ch%C3%B6re_aus_dem_Volksliederbuch,_WoO_VI/26_(Max_Reger)

I have tried different combinations, but I don't know why the .mp3 file name is displayed on the finished page.

Ultimately I will want this page to show 7 Major Parts, each consisting of 2, 3, or 5 movements as they present individual PDF, MP3, MIDI and MXL files for each of the 22 movements in the suite.

For example, I am hopping to achieve: Part 1: part_1_title part_1_icons

 1. Movement_1_title movement_1_icons
 2. Movement_2_title movement_2_icons

Part 2: part_2_title part_2_icons

 3. Movement_3_title movement_3_icons

...

Any help, or examples of Wiki coding to expand the structured Part and Movement titles appropriately will be MOST welcomed. Joel-Hunsberger (talk) 21:59, 23 February 2026 (UTC)

For each part, you're invited to create an edition (see any mass or cantata page): click on the "Add new edition" tab, on the upper right part of your work.
Thus you add three files: score (PDF), sound (MP3) and interchange format (MXL, compressed MusicXML).
When you click on "Add Data" at the end of the Add-edition form, the edition paragraph is created, with its mandatory edition number and added to the work page.
No need to reupload the two files you already uploaded for the first part, but you must create an edition for it, as for the other parts.
Don't forget to add lyrics (or a link to the regarding common text page), as the composer or arranger or editor, you are in the best position to do that yourself. ;-) Claude T (talk) 06:25, 24 February 2026 (UTC)

Claude: Thank you for modifing my draft entries into a really good looking format. I will be able to use the existing wiki code as examples to complete populating all 22 movements.

I have read about a 'Psalm' page on ChoralWiki and I don't understand that yet, but I am wondering if my Choral Suiite is appropriate for any reference on that page?

All psalm pages, for example Psalm 1, gather link to each pages having, in the "Original Texts and Translations" section the {{LinkText|Psalm 1}} mention; see Template:LinkText. Claude T (talk) 16:03, 25 February 2026 (UTC)

Adding new element occasionally replaces the entire work site...

Claude: This is mostly a curiosity question.... I have been overall quite successful in continuing to upload the parts and 22 individual movements of the Psalm 119 Choral Suite..

BUT, on a few occasions, the uploads and prep in the 'Add New Element' sheet go through fine, but the code to ADD is inserted in place of the entire work sheet... That is, the new edit just blow everything else away. I have recovered easily enough with the UNDO edit features, but I was wondering if this is some mistake I am making.

As has been, your help and demonstrations have been abundantly helpful!!

In fact, this is happening all the time now, starting at Part 4 and beyond.  :-)

I don't know why, but look at the page history (a tab at the upper right part), where one can see that you remove data and then restore it. Claude T (talk) 21:46, 25 February 2026 (UTC)

Yes... I understand that. In fact, for the last 3 parts I had to create the edition data with the 'Add New Edition' screen, and it would replace the page when the 'Add New Edition' worksheet completed. Then I would edit tne new arrival, capture the added data to an external notepad where I would format a new item list entry from the data captured, and close the edit page. Next, UNDO the replaced page to get back to the previous list. Now format the data on the external notepad, then EDIT the restore page to plug the new data entry into the right place and SAVE. Once I tried checking the box that said not to ADD the data so I could do it myself, but the 'Add New Edition' page just closes quietly and you LOSE the CPLDNo generated when the 'Add New Edition'i completes and plugs the new data into the existing work. (Even on a good day, this was plugged in at the top and I had to move it and reformat for its place in the list, however the page was not replaced when it 'worked'.... I did NOT want to lose the CPDLNo as it appears to be important, and I found NO way to retrieve that number other than getting it after a legitimate work page was updated.

Howevver... I survived, and completed the task for that work. The next few works I enter should be more simple. It seems to me that the factor causing the problem was related to the amount of data already on the destination work sheet, particularly that data arranged in nested bulleted lists, and getting longer. I suspect that the algorithm that closes the 'Add New Edition' template gets overwhelmed by the bulk of data on the destination work sheet and loses it's way, or decides incorrectly that the incoming data should REPLACE the entire sheet.

Claude, you are a patient, helpful and generous person and I have bothered you far to long on this strange problem. But, THANKS! for listening. You prompt responses and help in this process were most encouraging.
