Original text and translations

Italian.png Italian text

I piango; et ella il volto
Con le sue man m'asciuga, e poi sospira
Dolcemente e s'adira
Con parole che i sassi romper ponno,
E dopo questo si parte ella e'l sonno.

English.png English translation

I weep and she, with her hands, dries my face
and then sighs sweetly, and flies into a rage,
using words that could break rocks.
And then she leaves – and so does sleep.

Translation by Mick Swithinbank

German.png German translation

Ich weine, und sie trocknet mir
mein Gesicht mit ihren Händen, und seufzt dann
lieblich, und erzürnt sich
mit Worten, die Steine zerbrechen können:
und danach geht sie fort, und damit auch mein Schlaf.
Translation by Gerhard Weydt
