Italian text Dissi a l'amata mia, lucida stella Che più d'ogn' altra luce, Ed al mio cor adduce Fiamme, strali e catene, Ch'ogn'hor mi danno pene: "Deh! morirò, cor mio. Sì, morirai, ma non per mio desio."

English translation I told my love, shining star Who is stronger than any other light, And to my heart draws Flames, arrows and chains, That every hour give me pains: "Ah, I will die, my heart. Yes, you will die, but not because of my desire."

German translation

Ich sagte zu meinem geliebten klaren Stern,
daß er mehr als alle anderen leuchte
und meinem Herzen zufüge
Flammen, Strahlen und Ketten,
die mir alle Zeit Qualen bringen.
Ach, ich werde sterben, mein Herz,
auch du wirst sterben, aber nicht für mich, Geliebte.
 

Spanish translation

Dije a mi amada y brillante estrella,
que refulge más que ninguna
y que a mi corazón arroja
llamas, saetas y cadenas
causándome penas sin cesar:
"¡Ay, moriré, corazón mio!"
