Biography
John Smith was the composer of three books of psalmody 'for country choirs' (West Gallery music) published during the period 1746-1755. The title pages of the books describe him as 'of Market Lavington
'. All three books were published by subscription: William Knapp is listed among the subscribers to the second book.
