O Welt wie gar bistu verkert
zu disen letzten zeiten/
all untrew sich mit hauffen mehrt/
bey jung und alten leuten/
wer jetz ist fromm/
sicht sich nit umb/
nach grossem pracht und tittel,
nach grossem pracht und tittel/
man günt jm nicht
der ist schon gricht
von Zwillig einen Rittel,
Wer aber ohren plasen kan/
und mit fuchßschwäntze streichen/
der thut zuerst am reyen stahn/
die einfalt muß jm weichen/
er schämt sich nit/
mit stetter bitt/
thut er kein stund nit rasten/
lauft, rent und springt/
biß das er bringt/
vil gelt in seinen Kasten.

ist stet gricht zubetrigen/
wann er ein sicht der strauchen thut/
den tregt er auff die stiegen/
leught darzu mehr,
mit schlechter ehr/
mainst nit Gott werd es rechen/
es gschicht auß neid/
eins hinderrucks aufstechhen.
Es wer fürwar der beste rath/
sich selbs der sünden straffen/
wiewol ich sorg es sey zu spat/
die hätz last nit jrs klaffen/
sie scheit und hupfft/
sie swackt und zupfft/
als jr natur thut geben/
doch ist Gott grecht/
er lohnt dem knecht/
wie er hie fiert sein leben.
English translation
O world, to what have you turned
at these later times/
all falsehood multiply everywhere
amongst both the young and the old/
who is now pious /
should not look
for great splendor and
tittels/
no one fawors him,
he is already doomed
if he willingly klimbs the wheel.
But who can blow ears/
and stike with foxtails/
stands as the first on row/
and the simplicity must give place for him,
he has shame/
but beg for more and more/
he does not rest
he runs, dashes and jumps/
for to get /
much money in his box.
All he have, his heart, mind and feelings/
is always to be considered/
what he does in the the bushes out of sight/
when he climbs up the stairs/
telling more and mor lies,
without honor/
thinking God will not judge it/
as it hapens of need/
because of presure.
But it is truely the best advice/
Sin cary its own penalty
Worry about all things when it is too late /
hurry around will not help/
You may shout and hop
swallow and puff
acording to your nature/
but God is rightous,/
he will judge his servants/
by how they have conducted their lives.
