English text
Clouds of doubt and sorrow
O’er life’s pathway fall,
But, behold, the rainbow
Shineth in them all;
Token of that promise,
Where on, safe and blest,
Faith, ’mid every trial,
Doth securely rest.
Even when the darkest,
Last dread cloud doth lower,
Brighter still the rainbow
Shinest in that hour;
While, at last, for ever,
Grief’s dark waters cease,
And the free soul, dovelike,
Folds her wing in peace.
