Hi Walker, I think martir' is as correct as martire here; martir is just a poetical form with the last vowel removed, as in quand' (quando). I have found many references to the shortened title on the internet, though not as much as for the complete title. :Hey.  I decided to change it because both of my sources (a 1581 and 1617 printing of Arcadelt's 1st book of madrigals) include the e at the end of the title.  Maybe it was dropped in later editions.  — Walkertron5000 23:58, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

I made a couple of changes to your table for Il primo libro de' madrigali a 4 voci (Jacob Arcadelt).  First, I removed the "Voices" column; after all, these are all 4-part madrigals (as the title says).  Second, I made the "Composer" column sortable by use of the surname sort template ss.  Also, I reduced the widths of the "Title" and "Composer" columns somewhat, thinking that at some point (along the lines of the Eton Choirbook table), you might wish to add a "Remarks" column.  Mainly, though, thanks for all your work on the Arcadelt works!! &ndash; Chuck<small>talk</small>&nbsp;[[User:Charles H. :Awesome, thank you!  I'm definitely new to wiki formatting - I pretty much just copy and pasted the table from some other works page.  The sorting thing is very helpful - I'll be sure to use that in the future.  Thanks! - Walkertron5000 13:01, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi Walker, I noticed that you renamed this composer to Jacques; according to the Grove this is indeed the preferred form. Anyway, next time you notice something like this, envolving extensive changes, please use the appropriate talk page to discuss the changes with the other users before starting. We admins also have some tools available that could have done this change in a couple of minutes, saving you time. Best regards and thanks for your excellent contributions. —Carlos&nbsp;[ mail] 02:03, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

:Oh.  That would have been helpful.  I just figured Arcadelt's talk page wouldn't be the most traveled of pages, so I thought it would be faster to do it myself.  Ah well.  Next time.  Thanks for the heads up!  - Walkertron5000 02:21, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm not up on Sibelius 6, but when one creates a time sig. in earlier versions one can choose notes for the length of the (unnumbered) upbeat bar.  I notice Monteverdi's publisher dealt with this by putting rests at the beginning of every partbook: "No, after you!" ;-)  Looking forward to becoming better acquainted with Arcadelt! Hi Walter, I noticed that you added a table to Or, che in gioia and would like to invite you to use the template top and its related templates for this task; it may simplify somewhat your work next time. == Lassus page editing yesterday ==

Hi, you may wonder why cjshawcj and I reverted an edit of yours on the Lassus page yesterday, after you spotted an edit of mine & moved the work entry to the correct place.

The entry had been inserted by the fairly recent 'Add new work' function - if you are not familiar with this, it always saves the work to the top of the page, expecting the editor to move it manually. I did so, also changing 'pdf' to 'net', and added a second work in the same way a few minutes later. Unfortunately your edit clashed with these, hence the need to revert.

I moved my entry as quickly as was realistic given the speed of CPDL at the time, so would request that you delay a little before taking such action in future - if we had not noticed what had happened, my second entry would have vanished, and the first entry would have been incorrectly set to 'pdf'.

Thanks. Mandy Shaw (talk) 17:41, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

:Hi there! Apologies for the clashing. It is a fairly common occurrence for new users to use the new add works form and never move their new addition, so I move them as I notice them. This is unlikely to change in the future, but I'll forgo moving works uploaded by you or cjshawcj. Sorry for any confusion!

Lassus Terzo libro di madrigali
Hi,

I started uploading madrigals from Lassus' Terzo libro di madrigali a 5 voci.
You created the page for this madrigal book.
It says that all editions have the same index. But this is not true.
I'm working from the 1566 Gardano edition which I downloaded from the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek digital library.
And this edition has one piece less (does not contain the last French chanson), and the remaining 27 madrigals are in a different order.
Which edition did you use to create the page?

Welcome

Welcome to CPDL. It is great to have you contributing editions (of Arcadelt) to ChoralWiki. I see you already made a user page, and I've set up redirects from your login user page to your user page, as well as from your user talk page to this, your login user talk page (these facilitate navigation back and forth). If there is any help you need, feel free to contact me or any of the Administrators here at ChoralWiki. – Chucktalk Giffen 13:07, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
