Latin text Accedentes servi patris familias dixerunt illi: Domine, nonne seminaras semen bonum in agro tuo? Unde igitur habet zizania? Ille vero dixit illis: Inimicus homo hoc fecit. Servi autem dixerunt illi: Vis igitur abeamus et colligamus ea? At ille dixit: non, ne dum colligitis zizania, eradicetis simul et triticum. Sinite pariter crescere utraque ad messem et in tempore messis dicam messoribus: Colligite primum zizania et colligate ea in fasciculos ad conburendum ea. Triticum vero congregate in horreum meum.

German translation Da traten die Knechte des Hausherrn hinzu und sprachen zu ihm: Herr, hast du nicht guten Samen auf deinen Acker gesät? Woher hat er denn das Unkraut? Er sprach zu ihnen: Das hat ein Feind getan. Da sprachen die Knechte zu ihm: Willst du also, dass wir hingehen und es ausjäten? Er aber sprach: Nein, auf dass ihr nicht zugleich den Weizen mit ausrauft, wenn ihr das Unkraut ausjätet. Lasst beides miteinander wachsen bis zur Ernte; und um die Erntezeit will ich zu den Schnittern sagen: Sammelt zuerst das Unkraut und bindet es in Bündel, damit man es verbrenne; aber den Weizen sammelt in meine Scheune.                             Adapted from Lutherbibel 2017
