English text
An Axolotl pure and mild, so doth the prophet tell us,
shall rise from Jesse's stem and branch,
he shall y-break, and shall y-stop without metamorphosis;
his cute li'l smile and dainty feet herald apotheosis.
This Axolotl, theme of mine, Gyrinus mexicanus,
it comes to loose the ties that bind: Vincula sunt satanus.
For by its gills, it filtereth the good and bad asunder,
and leadeth us to Heaven's gate, despoiling Hell of's plunder.
An Axoloand mild, so doth the prophet tell us, without metamorphosis; his cute li'l smile and dainty feet herald apotheosis, herald apotheosis. This Axoloof mine, Gyrinus mexicanus, the good and bad asunder, and leadeth us to Heaven's gate, despoiling Hell of's plunder, despoiling Hell of's plunder.
