French text  modernised C'est grand cas que notre voisin Toujours quelque besogne entamée, Dont ne peut le pauvre badin Sortir qu'à sa honté et diffamée. Au reste je crois sur mon âme Tant il est lourd et endormi Que quand il besogne sa femme Il ne lui fait rien qu'à demi.

English translation It's a big deal that our neighbour Always has a freshly broached project, Which the poor clown can't finalize Except to his shame and dishonour.
