This category describes a musical work (an Organum) with "a plainchant melody with at least one added voice to enhance the harmony, developed in the Middle Ages", sometimes called "Medieval Organum". The added voice (vox organalis) was usually a fourth or fifth below the first voice (vox principalis). The Magnus Liber or Magnus liber organi, written in Latin, is a repertory of medieval organum. "Organum" is apparently both singular and plural.
