English text
Come and go a-Maying
O’er the meadow straying,
Where the little birds are singing happily all around.
Straying by the fountain,
O’er the glen and mountain,
While the sparkling dewdrops deck the velvet covered ground.
Let us away,
Happy today,
Voices ringing,
Gladness bringing,
Onward we go,
No sorrow know,
But happy as the bird that warbles all day long.
When the lengthening shadows
Steal across the meadows,
We will gladly seek our pleasant homes to rest once more.
And although we’re weary,
We will not be dreary,
Thinking of the many scenes we never saw before.
