English text
Come away! Come away!
Come where the bright waters play.
Come away! Come away!
Come at the close of the day.
We’ll launch our boat upon the tide,
Bidding adieu to the shore.
We’ll wake the echoes with a song,
Gliding the still waters o’er,
We’ll bid farewell to toil and care
Joy and mirth shall reign.
Forget the discord and the strife,
Wake a cheerful strain;
Away, away, our boat shall glide
Far o’er the bright and silvery tide.
The lake is tinged with glint of gold,
From the last beams of the sun.
We’ll watch each bright expiring ray,
Glad that the long day is done.
The whippoorwill in plaintive notes,
Tells that summer’s night,
The winter drear has passed away,
Gone without a sigh.
Away, away, our boat shall glide
Far o’er the bright and silvery tide.
