Latin text Contendite intrare per angustam portam, quia multi, dico vobis, quaerunt intrare et non poterunt. Cum autem intraverit pater familias et clauserit ostium et incipietis foris stare et pulsare ostium dicentes: Domine, aperi nobis. Et respondens dicet vobis: nescio vos unde sitis, discedite a me omnes operarii iniquitatis. Ibi erit fletus et stridor dentium.

English translation Strive to enter by the narrow gate: for many, I say to you, shall seek to enter and shall not be able. But when the master of the house shall be gone in and shall shut the door, you shall begin to stand without; and knock at the door, saying: Lord, open to us. And he answering, shall say to you: I know you not, whence you are. Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth

Hungarian translation Igyekezzetek a szűk kapun bemenni, mert mondom nektek, sokan akarnak majd bemenni, de nem tudnak. Amikor a családapa már felkel és bezárja a kaput, ti kívül állva zörgetni kezdtek az ajtón, és azt mondjátok: Uram! Nyisd ki nekünk! Ő ezt feleli majd nektek: Nem tudom, honnan valók vagytok! Távozzatok tőlem mindnyájan, ti gonosztevők. Lesz majd ott sírás és fogcsikorgatás.
