English text
Behold! the day is dawning!
Its rosy beams appear!
And, high above, the skylark trills
Its carols sweet and clear!
The night outspreads its pinions
And swiftly flies afar;
All lost to view the silvery moon,
And every twinkling star!
Yes! the day is dawning!
And on each leafy tree
The songsters sing a welcoming,
And that right merrily!
Cheerily and merrily!
And that right merrily!
Behold! the wakened blossoms
Their beauties spread anew,
And from their petals, sweet and fair,
Off-shake the pearly dew!
The silvery sheep-bells tinkle,
And music fills the air;
The drowsy night has taken flight,
And life is everywhere!
