Title: I arise today
Composer: Jennifer Bastable
Lyricist: Saint Patrick
Number of voices: 5vv   Voicing: SSATB
Genre: SacredAnthem

Language: English
Instruments: A cappella

First published:
Description: A setting for five voices, SSATB, of part of the medieval Irish poem Lúireach Phádraig, St Patrick's Breastplate (also known as Deer's Cry). Attribution of the original poem to St Patrick is quite possibly just a legend; the poem as it survives appears to have its roots in the eighth century.

I arise today
Through the strength of heaven;
Light of sun,
Radiance of moon,
Splendour of fire,
Speed of lightning,
Swiftness of wind,
Depth of sea,
Stability of earth,
Firmness of rock.
