Ingemuit Susanna, et ait: Angustiæ sunt mihi undique:
si enim hoc egero, mors mihi est:
si autem non egero, non effugiam manus vestras.
Sed melius est mihi absque opere incidere in manus hominum,
quam peccare in conspectu Dei mei.

Then Susanna sighed, and said, l am in trouble on every side:
for if I do this thing, it is death unto me:
and if I do it not, I can not escape your hands.
It is better for me to fall into your hands, and not do it,
than to sin in the sight of the Lord.
