- Edition notes: Solo Soprano, SATB choir, organ. This is intended for Holy Week. It is the final piece in my St. Matthew's Passion. This is a MIDI version. The poem "Invocation" is by Soloman ibn Gabirol (fl.11c.). He was a Jewish poet and philosopher living in Spain. His writings had a major influence on Medieval Christian scholasticism. I have used only the first stanza of this poem.

English text
Root of our saviour,
The scion of Jesse,
Till when wilt thou linger,
Invisible, buried?
Bring forth a flower,
For winter is over!
