Description: Transcribed from the "Musica Divina di XIX autori illustri a IIII. V. VI et VII voci, nuovamente raccolta da Pietro Phalesio et data in luce in Anversa - 1588". The keys, time signatures, notes' values and accidentals are as in the original print. The C clefs are transposed to the G clef and to the modern Tenor clef. Se scire fili is a sacred contrafact of this work by Simone Molinaro, published in his Fatiche Spirituali of 1610.

Italian text Leggiadre ninfe e pargolett’amori Che tra i colli di marte v’ascondete A l’allegrezza mia liete corrette Spargendo ros’et odorati fiori Candidi cigni e voi saggi pastori Al suon’al canto gl’anim’accendete A vener’et amor meco rendete Di cossi belle grati’etern’honori. Il dolc’e desiato frutt’ho colto Ho pur quel vago sol tenut’in braccio Ch’al maggior caldo fa fiorir le rose Cantand’in gaudio dove io son sepolto E l’allegrezze ch’io nel pett’ascose Ch’io da me stesso god’amando e taccio.

German translation Anmutige Nymphen und kindliche Amoren, die ihr euch in den Hügeln von Mars (?) versteckt, zu meiner Fröhlichkeit eilt freudig herbei, streut Rosen und duftende Blumen. Weiße Schwäne und ihr, weise Hirten, mit Klingen, mit Singen entzündet die Seelen, zu Venus, zu Amor führt mich mit so schöner Anmut und ewigen Ehren. Die süße und erwünschte Frucht habe ich gekostet, ich habe die hübsche Sonne im Arm gehalten, die bei größter Hitze die Rosen erblühen lässt. Solche Freude, die mich überschüttet, und das Glück, das ich in der Brust verstecke, das ich für mich allein genieße, liebend und schweigend. Translation by Gerhard Weydt
