Description: This composition has nothing to do with a simple note to note harmonization of the same text which is often attributed to Lasso. Lassus' pupil Eccard also wrote a 'parody mass' on this theme: Missa super "Mon cœur se recommande à vous". The spelling "plain" in "plain d'ennuy", that all these editions use, following the 1560 source, is clearly a misspelling, as the 1570 source as well as the settings of the same text by Jean de Castro and Rinaldo del Mel have "plein" (= full), deriving from Latin "plenus", whereas "plain" (= flat) derives from "planus", and "plain" makes no sense. Also Marot has "plein" in the 1546 edition of his works, after "plai(n)" in the 1533 edition.
