Omnia vertuntur: certe vertuntur amores:
vinceris aut vincis, haec in amore rota est.
Magni saepe duces, magni cecidere tyranni,
et Thebae steterant altaque Troia fuit.

Alles dreht sich, gewiß; und so dreht sich auch die Liebe;
du wirst besiegt oder siegst, das ist das Rad der Liebe.
Oft sind mächtige Führer, sind große Tyrannen gefallen,
Theben - es stand dereinst, Trojas Gemäuer - es war.

Everything is turning, and so does love;
you'll be defeated or victorious, this is the cycle of love.
Often mighty leaders, mighty tyrants have fallen,
