Born: 1551, Florence

Died: 1614, Florence

Biography Italian amateur composer. He was a nobleman, who played an important intellectual role in fostering the ‘new music’ in Florence during the late 16th century. Giulio Strozzi was a younger member of his family. He was a member of the Camerata of Count Giovanni de’ Bardi and a chief participant in its discussions on the reform of music.
