Quid Christi captive gemis dux inclite volvens
pectore quae moesto suggerit aegra caro?
Vivit adhuc Christus regnator et arbiter orbis,
tantum perge Deo fidere liber eris.
Asserit ad dexteram patris pia iura suorum,
vique suis presto est omnipotente Deus,
vindice quo rabidas fauces cohibente leonum.
Vir pius in media morte perire nequit.

Why do you, Christ’s prisoner, illustrious duke, sigh, sunk in sad thoughts inspired by your reluctant flesh?
To this day, Christ lives as the ruler and judge of the world:
you need only continue to trust in God and then you will be free.
On the right hand of the father, he protects the rights that his people righteously enjoy, and
with overwhelming power God assists them in vengeance, taming the furious jaws of the lions.
Even in the midst of death, the righteous man cannot perish.
