General Information

Title: Ring Round
Composer: Barbara Rosen
Lyricist: Barbara Rosen
Number of voices: 4vv   Voicing: 4 equal voices
Genre: SecularCanon

Language: English
Instruments: A cappella

Composed: 2001
Description:  Dr. Ruth, the sex therapist, told a story about a couple worried about whether their activities were normal: “He would lie on his back and she would toss onion rings over his er-r-r-ect penis and eat them.” Her delivery was hilarious. I was so entertained that I wrote this round. According to Kinsey the only abnormal sex act is one performed with one’s clothing on.

I casually fling an onion ring.
It spins around, but where it's bound I cannot say.
It's cast away. That's how we play.
