Signor, che già te stesso
In cibo a l’alme desti,
Per darne del tuo amor segno più espresso
Et render noi più desti
A bei pensier celesti,
Perdonami s’indegno
Mi mostro a sì bel don, a si alto pegno.

Vergine gloriosa e lieta, o quanto
Allegro è fatto il tuo doglioso stato:
Giorno felice e santo,
Quando risorse il tuo figliol’ amato!
Deh fa ch’anch’io risorga dal peccato.

German translation

Herr, der du schon dich selbst
als Speise den Seelen gabst,
um ein deutlicheres Zeichen deiner Liebe zu geben
und uns wacher zu machen
für schöne himmlische Gedanken,
vergib mir, wenn ich unwürdig
mich zeige einer solchen schönen Gabe, eines solch erhabenen Unterpfands.

Herrliche und freudenreiche Jungfrau, o wie
freudig ist deine traurige Lage geworden:
glücklicher und heiliger Tag,
als dein geliebter Sohn auferstand!
Ach, mache, dass auch ich wieder aufstehe aus der Sünde.
