Italian text 'Sto core mio, se fosse di diamante, saria spezzato per tanto dolore, quanto ne provo e sent'a tutte l'hore. 'Sto core mio, se fosse di diamante, et ben ch'afflitto sia più ch'altro amante, tenga dolente e sconsolato il core, pur non li manca spirto nè vigore. 'Sto core mio, se fosse di diamante, ma quanto più patisce e più constante, sofre il dolor se ben fosse magiore, di quel ch'io prov'e sento a tutte l'hore. 'Sto core mio, se fosse di diamante, ma voi, donna crudel, volete anchora, per magior segno di mia fede ogn’hora, vedermi tormentar prima ch'io mòra.

English translation Even if my heart were made of diamond, it would break from the sharp pain that I feel and sense at every moment. Even if my heart were made of diamond, and even though I'm afflicted more than any other lover, —my heart discouraged and reduced to sorrow–, nonetheless it lacks neither strength nor spirit. Even if my heart were made of diamond, however much and steadily it suffers, it would gladly bear a greater pain than what I feel and sense hour by hour.
