Talk:Jean Lecocq

In the Grove Dictionary there is no entry for "Jenin Le Cocq"; the closest I could find was a short entry for composer Jean [Jehan] Lecocq (fl 1540–60), who is said to be the same as Joannes Gallus. Looking under Gallus' entry, all the works listed in this page are also there, so perhaps we should rename the composer to one of these two forms above. —Carlos 07:12, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
- Not quite sure I'm with you there, Carlos. We have a page for Jacob Handl rather than Jacobus Gallus, don't we? Cordially, joachim 16:53, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Joachim, I'm not sure you understood my suggestion; the problem lies in the current form, "Jenin Le Cocq", which is not found in music dictionaries. I suggested to change it to either "Jean Lecocq" or "Joannes Gallus", but I agree with you that the composer's original name is preferred over its latinized form. That's why in this case I'd pick "Jean Lecocq". Regards —Carlos 18:12, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
- Misread you on that one, indeed. Sounds logical. Regards, joachim 18:57, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, will do it then :) Regards —Carlos 18:22, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
