The Matthew's passion in the Bärenreiter Collected Works (ed. Kurt von Fischer 1961) is in 5-6 parts and does not resemble this music in any way. Nor are there obvious models among the 4-part Luke and Mark Passions, or the 5 part John in the same volume... I'm eager to know the solution to this mystery! Richard Mix 00:27, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

This is actually the setting by Victoria - the setting has been adapted from Victoria's Latin from this passion, thanfully by the same evangelist! This is the one most favoured by British choirs, both Catholic and Anglican in my experience. Edward Tambling 16:15, 14 November 2011 (CST)
