English text
Dulcibel, my vowes deryding,
Holds noe hope of future blisse;
Sweeter she than scents abyding
Deep in ambergrisse;
Yet love on, Corydon!
Mayden’s minde unstable is.
Flute is mute, and cheerfulle tabor
All its music harboureth;
Oaten pipes o’er shepherd’s labour
Sounde noe sprightlie breath;
Yet love on, Corydon!
Chance may change, the wise man say’th.
When betwixt the scythe and sickle
Maydes and shepherdes trippe the greene;
Shall they floute her for being rickle
If to me she leane?
Then love one, Corydon!
Smiles may growe where sighes have beene.
