The text derives from an antiphon based on Luke 5, 25 & 26.

Latin text Tulit ergo paralyticus lectum suum in quo iacebat, magnificans Deum. Et omnis plebs, ut vidit, dedit laudem Deo. Alleluia.

German translation Der Gelähmte nahm folglich sein Lager, auf dem er gelegen hatte, und pries Gott. Und das ganze Volk, das dies sah, lobte Gott. Halleluja.

English translation The paralytic hence picked up the bed he had been lying on and glorified God. And the people that saw this praised God. Alleluia.
