Vergin che Luna, e Sol', ed ogni stella
Vinci co'i raggi tuoi d'alto splendore,
Allumami quest'occhi, e questo core.

Cieco hà gran tempo, son nel Mondo involto,
E le cadute mie poco discerno,
Ch'in tenebre mi tranno entr'à l'Inferno.

Ben parm'intorno al Ciel di veder lume:
Ma qui m'abbaglio, ò trista mia ventura!
E se pur veggio, un lampo, e più non dura.

Dunque risplender fà tuoi chiari lumi,
Ond'io ritorni in via, ch'al Ciel conduce,
E goda nel suo fonte eterna luce.
