And Nature utters scarce a sound,
When every warbler seeks its nest,
And mortals deep in slumber rest.

Pale Luna sheds her beams of light,
And Heav’n is gemmed with stars so bright,
The weary flowers their eyelids close,
And all is lulled in sweet repose.

Then rouse yourselves,
Ye merry, merry elves,
And haste to the woods away,
Then rouse yourselves,

And dance and sing
’Till the welkin ring,
So long as the moonbeams play.

We’ll laugh and sing
