For many sorrow-laden years;
When hearts greet that ne’er forget
Days of joy and hopes and fears;
Time has fled, but love is true,
Aye, though ages pass away;
Years are dead, but where it grew,
Love is found to grow today!

Sighs of youth,– heart-given sighs,
Breathed in days gone by in vain,
Come, in truth, a sweet surprise!
When hands meet yet once again!
When hands meet that have not met
For many sorrow-laden years;
Fond hearts greet and soon forget
Long days of sad and bitter tears!
