French text Calme des nuits, fraîcheur des soirs, Vaste scintillement des mondes, Grand silence des antres noirs Vous charmez les âmes profondes. L'éclat du soleil, la gaité, Le bruit plaisent aux plus futiles; Le poète seul est hanté Par l'amour des choses tranquilles.

English translation Stillness of the night, cool of the evening, Vast shimmering of the spheres, Great silence of black vaults Deep thinkers delight in you. The bright sun, merriment, And noise amuse the more frivolous; Only the poet is possessed By the love of quiet things.

Italian translation Calma delle notti, Freschezza delle sere, Vasto ondeggiamento dei mondi, Grande silenzio delle caverne nere, Incantate i cuori profondi. L'abbaglio del sole, la gaité, Il rumore soddisfano i più inutili; Il poeta solo è abitato Dall'amore delle cose calme.

German translation Stille der Nacht, Kühle des Abends, Funkeln der Sterne, Lautlosigkeit dunkler Höhlen, ihr bezaubert die empfindsamen Seelen. Der grelle Glanz der Sonne und die lärmende Heiterkeit sind das Vergnügen der Oberflächlichen. Allein der Dichter ist beherrscht von der Liebe zu den ruhigen Dingen.

Russian translation Спокойствие ночей, свежесть вечеров, Необъятное мерцание миров, Величественное молчание чёрных пещер Завораживают глубокие души. Сияние солнца, веселье, Шум — приятны для более легкомысленных; Только лишь поэт преисполнен Любви к спокойным вещам.
